I agree with how aggressive the ads themselves are, but the whole ‘consume’ thing is just so passé – everybody is pushing consumption! What you need to do is look at the mindset of these ads.

I watched an ad featuring a guy walking into a fast food restaurant and ordering a burger – the lady asks him “Would you like heartburn relief now, or later?” – the narrator shows the competing products on the market that offer instant relief but no long lasting benefit, or take too long to kick in, before introducing the one that does it all(!). The dude takes his shit and leaves, happy. The whole time, a European observer is thinking DUDE IF YOU KNOW THAT THE FUCKING CHEESEBURGER WILL GIVE YOU HEARTBURN WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL GETTING ONE?

Rebellion made Shellshock 2? Holy crap – they’re the same guys behind the mind-blowingly awesome Aliens vs Predator on the PC, which I still sometimes think about trying to get a LAN game going in… (speaking of which, you interested? It’d run on any system – it’s from 1999)
